FAQ

CENS ProFlex

Yes! ALL miniature electronic devices that go into the ear and are used outdoors are subjected to quite some degree of foreign bodies; ear wax, sweat, moisture and varying ambient conditions. The CENS is designed with maximum protection from these outside influences, however on occasion electronic parts will fail, sometimes from user error and other times due to wear and tear. We recommend that your CENS are serviced at least once a year to maintain perfect functionality and peak performance. This is carried out free of charge during the warranty period.

YES, we recommend the use of both ear plugs and earmuffs on an indoor range especially with high calibres.

YES, CENS provides low level amplification to enhance your ability to hear the approaching birds.

Some users have reported that they hear their own footsteps when walking. We say that generally the quarry you are trying to stalk up on will have similar hearing abilities to this and will hear you also.

Test results show that ear plugs provide higher levels of protection than ear muffs when the seal in the ear is correct. Only under very high sound pressure levels will the sound significantly travel through the skull and fitting ear muffs to cover the mastoid will not stop this.

It is important to familiarise yourself with the fitting procedure prior to using them to ensure you get the maximum protection.

NO, only Zinc Air type batteries should be used as these have the highest energy density for the size of the battery and are designed to be used in demanding situations like this. Other chemistry batteries will work but not last very long.

We only recommend that you use Rayovac or Purcell Plus batteries as these have proven to last longer in field tests.

If the correct battery is used there are a few reasons this may occur :-

i. The device is not being turned off after use.

ii. Infrequent use. The Zinc Air battery starts to work after the tab is removed and continues to discharge even when the CENS is switched off. The battery life information is for continuous use and is a guide only.

iii. You are not using the recommended manufacturer’s batteries.

YES, you will hear everything around you.

There is no time limit. Many users wear them all day long on game shoots. It really depends on the users need and comfort.

You can use the Neckloop with your iPhone, to do this you must use a Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter Available Here. This may affect the output volume levels of the device, so we recommend you use with the volume slightly higher.

CENS are a custom-made product so in order to create them we need impressions of your ears. Read all about ear impressions here.

If the correct size foam tip is used and the device is fitted correctly then they will be secure. There is a silicone cord option available that keeps the left and right devices together.
With care the foam should last many months, however we suggest that they be changed monthly to ensure correct function and fit.
We provide the user with a wide range of sizes when they first purchase the Mino CENS so that they can find the one that provides the best attenuation, fit and comfort. After this you may then just purchase the colour ear tip you require.
This is totally dependent on the person. As a general rule we suggest once a month, but this may be less or more if the Mino CENS are worn a lot of the time or if you generate a lot of cerumen (ear wax).
Probably not, unless you only have a very mild hearing loss.
The Mino CENS was designed to be used straight from the box to be more convenient. They are also more cost effective than custom devices.

ProFlex Passive

Yes, you have the option when ordering them to select both the earpiece colours and the passive insert colours.
Yes, in most cases. Due to the area available to mark, complex logos will not be visible. However we will in some cases simplify the logo so as to be able to laser mark but retain the logo integrity.
All of the ear pieces will have the users name, however there is an optional laser marking service available for the outside face of the passive insert. We can laser mark names and logos.
No, the inline filter will affect the higher frequencies a little, even on the quieter sounds, so the resultant sound will not be as high fidelity as the electronic modules.

The Passive module is fitted with a special inline filter that allows you to hear ambient sounds around you, but blocks loud sounds.
